Quicksand

A thought I had last night while praying.

Life is like walking through a swamp, full of life, filled with beauty everywhere, yet danger lurks in every corner. Sometimes we enjoy the view too much and not look where we are walking. Sometimes we are distracted and pulled away from our path because the flower on that side seems very pretty. Sometimes we are bored with walking on the same path and want to experience something different and so we deviate from our goals and walk to the side. Sometimes we are so focused on the present desires that we lose focus on where we are stepping on and fall into quicksand.

Looks just like solid ground, yet in an instant it will just suck us in. Things of this world may seem so innocent, but the evil one will creep up on us and suck us away in an instant. Without knowing what happened, we are suddenly drowning and helpless. The only safe place where we can stand is on Christ alone who is our solid rock.

Psalm 62:6-7
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
